MEGAN!!!! I'm so very jealous of all of you right now... I am also missing all of you dearly. I only wish I had the courage to do what you are doing, and the faith to know God has and WILL provide for you in the coming months. Tell Travis that he'd better bring me back an African child(whether his or someone else's...doesn't matter) and that I'm taking care of the Yamaha. lol All my prayers for you all! Joe
Your Grandmother, Joann, and I travel together, and I have been anticipating your trip to Uganda, along with her (tho I was not as apprehensive, as Africa is my favorite continent to visit, which I have done 5 times. In April I will be going back to Morocco).
This is going to be an adventure which will stay with you your entire life. Enjoy every moment, as I know you will. I am so enjoying your blog - you've done a great job and the photographs are great.
After a long year of planning and prayer, an amazing opportunity opened up for us at an orphanage in southern Uganda called L'esperance. L'esperance is an Adventist owned orphanage of kids separated from their parents as a result of health reasons, poverty, or political strife. The name of this orphanage means Hope and is our aspiration to give hope to the children of Uganda in the 5 months we will be serving there.
The need is enormous and the resources are few. We will be the first student missionaries at this location so our tasks are varied. The majority of our efforts will go towards establishing a framework for future missionaries to join by building housing, water systems, and personal relationships. The Ugandans are excitingly anticipating our arrival and we also are eager to begin our service.
Our journey to this point has already been an incredible testament to the will of God and we have been awed by the many doors He has opened for us. All that is left is the last leg of the journey and this is where we need your help!
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few." -Luke 10:2
